Why was Behatokia created?

In the Basque Territory, Euskal Herria, citizens are not guaranteed to be able to live in Basque. This language, indigenous to Euskal Herria, is not official in the entirety of the territory and Bascophones constantly suffer infractions of their language rights. In response to this situation:

• Behatokia protects and defends the language rights of Bascophones and works so that those who want to are guaranteed to be able to live in Basque

• Behatokia works to guarantee Bascophones the right to use Basque as a language of address to the public administration and to receive correspondence from public services in Basque (medical, educational, judicial, etc.) and, in general, to guarantee the ability to use Basque in any public area.
